WinterWillow, part of Wintercomfort for the Homeless, is pleased to announce relocation from Overstream House to 44 Newnham Road, Cambridge.

Due to the success in the sales of the beautiful WinterWillow eco-coffin and additional employment opportunities given to Wintercomfort service users.

WinterWillow was set up by Wintercomfort for the homeless in 2009, an eco-business that crafts coffins woven from sustainable willow. It is also a social business that provides training, development and employment for those individuals who are homeless and who require support to get back into work to increased autonomy, well being, occupation, employment and independent living.

Any future profit made by the business will contribute to the delivery of our welfare services reducing our reliance on grants and donations.

See our main news web page for more infromation here…

WinterWillow will be at the forthcoming Open Day of  The Woodland Burial Trust in St. Albans.

The event takes place on Saturday 12th May, 2012 from noon onwards.

‘St Albans Woodland Burial Trust is one of only two consecrated sites in the country and falls under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of St Albans. Consecration provides the greatest protection that can be afforded in English law, and can only be changed by Act of Parliament.Whatever religious faith you may or may not have, you can nevertheless be assured that this will always remain a special place, sacred to the memory of those who rest in peace’.

Visitors on the day can enjoy free refreshments in the Trust marquee and will be able to view the new glade and see the newly extended 12 acres of woodland on the site.

Set in beautiful countryside in Keysoe, Bedfordshire and surrounded by 60 acres of woodland, access to the woodland is through the College Equestrian Centre, Church Road, Keysoe, Bedford. MK44 2JP

You can currently see a very nice article about WinterWillow on the Home & Garden online pages of Cambridge-news.co.uk

Written by Emma Higginbotham, the piece illustrates the history and background to the formation of WinterWillow as a craft based social enterprise.

It is also an opportunity to highlight the ‘green’ credentials of WinterWillow and to show the care and craft that the WinterWillow team put into the creation of their woven willow eco-coffins.

Check out  the online article here for more information about us.

nigelPargettaPicGraham Seed the actor who played Nigel Pargetter in The Archers for nearly thirty years is coming to Cambridge.

Guests can buy tickets to the event and hear Graham’s observations on the contentious story line which saw his departure form this iconic programme after such a long time.

Our parent charity will receive the profits from the event – in order to support the work of WinterComfort for the Homeless.

It is fitting that the event will raise money for WinterComfort – as WinterWillow, one of our social enterprises, makes English woven willow coffins and it it was Nigel Pargetta’s last wish to be buried in a woven eco-coffin.

The event will be held at The Law Faculty of the University of Cambridge, between 6.00 and 8.00pm on the 13th April 2011.

You can purchase tickets on the night for £12 or from WinterComfort ahead of the event for only £10.
